An excerpt from Respect (Vayera, October 27, 2007)
My fear is that we have confused our activist heritage with a license to let respect begin to fray at the edge. That we have allowed open dialogue with authorities to devolve into disregard.
Vayera challenges us with a difficult story of destruction and a disturbing demand of a father. But at the same time, it challenges us to look at our relationships with authority and with our fellow Jews and to ask whether we are upholding the model set for us in the Torah.
